Winslet weaves a web following
Not that there aren't a few rotten apples that spoil things for the rest of the barrel. This past June, for example, the British tabloid The Mirror reported that Winslet had been getting email death-threats from an unidentified female stalker, who was leaving the threats on the
Kate Winslet Fan Club message board.
The club's officers expressed concern and recently created a new message board, (although it can't be confirmed that the death threats were the sole reason for dismantling the old board).
Still, someone who identified themselves as "You all know who this is," managed to send another obscenity-filled threatening message.
"Arrogant pompus over rated (expletive)! I hope her baby grows up to be a whore! I hope she never has kids again! I hope she (expletive) dies in an IRA bombing! (Expletive) her and her whole family and (expletive) all of you I'm finally free from you (expletive)!"
The person in question might suffer from some kind of mental disorder, like "Obsessional Fan Syndrome," a serious disease that has led to several actors and actresses being physically hurt. Most people associate fan clubs with such obsessed fans. The woman who murdered Tejano singer Selena in 1995, for example, Yolanda Saldivar, was the president of her Fan Club.
